When we first decided to make a festival at Hove, we were clear from the start that this had to be a festival with a strong environmental profile.
At Hove we come together, in between the skies, the sea and the land. It is easy to be humbled with the elements so close to us. It is nothing less than natural to be thankful for such great environments to host a party at! For many of us the beautiful nature at Hove has been a reminder of something larger. A reminder of how grateful we as humans should be for this beautiful planet we’ve been blessed with.
In later years a lot has happened with our common consciousness on the environment and global warming. New and serious research has been brought to the table. A lot of the criticism towards environmental science has been silenced. It is no longer a question about whether we should do something, the question today is “What can we do, and how fast can we do it?”
With invaluable help from Norwegian environmental group Bellona, Hove has become the first carbon neutral festival in Scandinavia. This is something we take pride in! We believe a festival like Hove is a great opportunity to prove that change is possible, and that this change doesn’t necessarily mean we have to wave goodbye to things we love. Like good music, or a great party!
This year we have several environmental projects in the works, some on a small scale, some on a large scale. We aim to make the Hove Festival 2O1O a mindblowing party, but one based on eco-friendly principles!
